I don't watch TV much, relying instead on the nice folks at
YouTube for entertainment. Well, one thing I watch with avid, fanatical interest are the old black-and-white movies, and TV shows like
Alfred Hitchcock Presents and
The Twilight Zone. As long as it's black-and-white, and predates the mid 60s, I'll watch it. I love the fashions and the interior decor and the big, open typefaces. I love the crisp, refined accents and the painfully corny special effects. I love the way switchboard operators had to connect every phone call, and the way front doors didn't seem to have peepholes. I love how filling the car's gas tank cost $4.42.
Well, one thing that's especially fun about these old shows is that they'd show actors in all their fascinating, youthful glory -- some of them, still alive today, continue to show a vestige of what once was; others bear only a pale, haggard resemblance, so that you're taken by surprise when you see the credits, and think, "O my goodness! That was fill-in-the-blanks??".

Go ahead and say it feature to quickly post some of my own black-and-white eye candy favourites. I'm pretty sure you'll agree -- they don't make 'em like they used to! First up -- Robert Redford :)

I love watching old black and white films!! Always have. I even enjoy watching the old Black and White Andy Griffith shows :)
I also love the old B&W. My favourites are "I Love Lucy" and "Dick Van Dyke". I especially like the later years on I love Lucy because of all the celebrities they have. Milton Berle, Tallulah Bankhead, Bob Hope, John Wayne, Harpo Marx, Hedda Hopper, William Holden, Betty Grable, Red Skelton.....just to name a few!
Old films are wonderfully adorable. The stories were great, the scenes were clean, and the characters are memorable to this day. I usually will not turn down a movie from what I consider "way back when". They are what America was, and I wish I could has seen it first hand.

Last week I watched The Company You Keep. It was very good. But he's getting old...
1st time i ever set eyes on R Redford was in a movie with Natalie Wood (also a 50s/60s female fav of mine)called "This Property is Condemned", fell in love with him right away! NB: i didn't see TZ then as TV came pretty late to our fair shores, round bout the mid-60s & we cud not afford it. NB 2: updated version of TZ never came close to how simply very good the original B&W series were, for one thing, B&W made all the diff.
Ps: Leonardo D'Caprio doesn't come even remotely close at all to R Redford's Jay Gatsby, no way! {:-)
My Hubbell was named after Robert Redford. His character in The Way We Were was Hubbell. For me, he is one of the most handsome men that ever existed. Good, good choice!!!!
Well, you certainly names two of my favourites: Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone! They are a bit corny when you compare them to today's tech advances, but I love them just the same. They were so much more innocent, cleaner.

Robert Redford was beautiful.....even when he started to look weathered and older. I love black & white movies, especially if they have Bette Davis in them.
I adore Robert Redford! I can't tell you how many times I saw "The Way We Were". I TOTALLy understood Barbra Streisand going GAGA over him!
Having said that, he is such an intelligent, caring man about the environment, someone we really need these days!
If you get the chance, watch the movie that he directed "Quiz Show", it's a really good movie!

I also watch those 2 shows. I remember seeing Redford in one, I think where death was coming for him in an underground apartment...? Anyway, I love those shows!

I didn't watch many black and white shows but I remember I love Lucy! and yes they don't make them like that any more!

Ah yes Robert Redford was quite a cutie. There was something special about the old Black & White movies of long ago - even the old B&W TV shows seem to have a special charm to them that today's shows are so lacking . . . perhaps it was that they had more "class" ?
No they sure don't make them like they used to as far as leading men and entertainment. Robert Redford was really handsome! My old time favorite is Gregory Peck - so good looking and full of class :)

Robert Redford was always hot stuff! I started watching old black and white movies around age 18 and fell madly in love with the acting and fashions. Cary Grant has been my favorite, especially in comical moments!
