nothing says tropical...

... quite like a parrot -- just look at the colours on this fellow! Did you know that parrots can see parts of the ultraviolet spectrum? This, and other cool animal facts here. All the pictures were taken by Rebecca (except the ones she's in of course); I think she shows promise, yes?

Most tigers have yellow eyes, but white tigers usually have blue -- the same genetics that show up in Ming!

B writes that "In just a hundred years, the world has lost 97% of wild tigers" -- a very sad fact indeed.  I'm glad there are people like her in this new generation who care, and want to do something about it.

Are these pics from Singapore Zoo? I went there on my birthday (free entry if it's your birthday!) and had a fantastic time. Yes, I've checked the link and it is the zoo! Great day out.

These pictures are awesome! She did an excellent job. It's sad to see how many animals are on the extinct list. Not enough is being done. It's great to see that she cares and is concerned. She's definitely a hope for the future. That parrot is gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend!

Those are beautiful photos! Rebecca certainly does show promise. The fact about the tigers really saddens me. That is horrible. They are such beautiful creatures. It would be tragic if we lost them.

My aunt had a neighbor that had a talking parrot and would call my cousin over and over again, like my aunt used to hehehehe

I've been thinking of taking a trip to the zoo here. And your daughter is such a sweetheart. The world needs more people who think like her. :-)

What a great job Becky has done with her photos, B&R! It's heartbreaking to think that 97% of the world's wild tigers are gone! When I was born there were only 3 billion people on the earth. Overpopulation and habitat loss are scary to me. Thank goodness for caring and thoughtful kiddos like your Becky!
