A bird ballet by Neels Castillon

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
~ Emily Dickinson

Have a soaring, transcendent week, everyone!

I love that hope never gives up on us. Even when we give up, hope will show up and nudge us along.

great post Janice! Emily is one of my favorites - she always makes me think a little harder. And the bird ballet ... how cool is that?

The poem is beautiful, wish I could have watched the video but it wasn't working for me. Went to the Vimeo site and same thing there, I could not click on and watch the film - maybe I had to join their site in order to view their videos ?"
But I have seen some amazing films on TV showing huge swarms of small birds doing incredible acrobatics in flight . . . so many of them and yet never a one flew into another bird, their agility and grace was truly unbelievable.

Thank you for sharing this inspiring post. I love Emily's thoughts on hope and birds. When I was little, I remember being on the playground at six and someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said a bird. I graduated to wanting to be a Bald eagle when I was nine, but ever since, I associate birds with a feeling of hope. Hugs. Erika
